Veggimins · True Vegan Collagen

A clinically studied collagen alternative, made from hibiscus — not cows or fish

Jar of True Vegan Collagen on a lavender backdrop with a hibiscus flower and a spoon of powder

True Vegan Collagen is built on VC-H1®, a hibiscus extract tested in a 12-week randomized, placebo-controlled human study of skin hydration, elasticity and wrinkles. Each ¾-tsp serving has 1,800 mg, plus vitamin A, biotin and B5.

Macro photograph of a pink hibiscus petal on a lavender surface

From a hibiscus flower. Not cowhide, not fish skin.

Nearly every collagen on the shelf is animal protein. This one starts from a plant.

Why this one

What’s actually in the jar

Most collagen is hydrolysed protein from cowhide, or from fish skin and scales. This is neither.

1,800 mg

of VC-H1® hibiscus extract in every ¾-teaspoon serving

¾ tsp a serving · 30 per jar · one month

  • A plant with a collagen-like profile

VC-H1® is hibiscus extract, hydrolysed to release an amino acid profile that closely resembles animal collagen’s. The same building blocks, from a plant.

  • Vitamin A, biotin and B5 in the same scoop

700 mcg of vitamin A, 300 mcg of biotin and 15 mg of vitamin B5 per serving, so there’s no second bottle to buy.

  • Dissolves in what you already drink

Coffee, tea, water or a smoothie. It stirs in rather than clumping on the surface, and tastes of close to nothing.

  • A short ingredient list

Hibiscus extract, the vitamins, and monk fruit for a trace of sweetness. No fillers, no flow agents, no flavouring.

The research

The hibiscus ingredient was tested in a 12‑week human study.

In a pilot study published in 2025, adults with dry skin and fine lines around the eyes took 1.5 g of VC-H1® or a placebo every day. One ¾-tsp serving of True Vegan Collagen contains 1.8 g.

  • 12 weeksmeasured at weeks 0, 6 and 12
  • 98 adultsaged 35–60, with dry skin
  • Double-blindrandomized, placebo-controlled

Compared with placebo, the VC-H1® group showed:*

  • HydrationHigher skin hydration and deep moisture, with less water lost through the skin (TEWL).
  • ElasticityGreater improvement in elasticity at weeks 6 and 12, measured with a Cutometer.
  • TextureSmoother skin texture, measured with 3D skin imaging.
  • Fine linesShallower wrinkles around the eyes, measured with 3D skin imaging.

What it does and doesn’t tell you. The study tested the VC-H1® ingredient, not this jar. The authors call it a pilot: all participants were Korean adults, and they say larger, more diverse studies are needed. One author works for Rawga, which supplied the VC-H1®.

How to use all four

Three at breakfast. One at the sink.

The order, how much, and why each one is there.

At breakfast · about a minute

  1. Hands squeezing the Vitamin D3 + K2 dropper over a bowl of oatmeal at a kitchen table

    Step 1: Vitamin D3 + K2

1 dropperful (1 mL), with breakfast

5,000 IU of D3 from lichen and 120 mcg of K2 as MK-7 — the pair most people buy as two bottles, in one dropper.

  2. Man pouring water into a glass beside the Organic Vitamin C bottle

    Step 2: Organic Vitamin C

4 dropperfuls (4 mL), in a glass of water

90 mg from acerola and amla — the full daily value, not a megadose. Supports normal collagen formation.*

  3. Hand holding a glass of pink hibiscus drink beside an open jar of True Vegan Collagen

    Step 3: True Vegan Collagen

¾ teaspoon, stirred into coffee, tea or a smoothie

1,800 mg of VC-H1® hibiscus extract — the ingredient from the 12-week study — plus vitamin A, biotin and B5.

    The one you came for

At the sink

  1. Woman in a towel applying Hydragold+ serum at the bathroom sink

    Step 4: Hydragold+ Serum

A few drops on clean skin, before moisturizer

The only step on your skin: plant ceramides and bamboo isoflavones for moisture, apple and citrus stem-cell extracts, colloidal gold.

The minimum, not more

Four steps. Only one of them touches your skin.

  • 1drops
  • 2drops
  • 3powder
  • 4on skin

Nothing to layer

Three of the four are things you take with breakfast. There’s nothing to stack on your face, so nothing to pill.

Not a 10-step routine

Not an add-on to one, either. It’s the minimum that covers the basics: vitamin D with K2, vitamin C, collagen, and one serum.

Keep what already works

Your cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen stay. Hydragold+ goes on after cleansing, before the rest.

Questions

What people ask first

Is it actually collagen?

No — plants don’t make collagen, and we’d rather say so up front. VC-H1® is hibiscus extract hydrolysed to release an amino acid profile that closely resembles collagen’s, which is why the researchers who studied it call it a collagen alternative. It’s also why it’s vegan.

What does it taste like?

Close to nothing. It’s lightly sweetened with monk fruit and has no fishy note. In coffee or a smoothie you won’t notice it.

How long does a jar last?

Thirty servings — a month at ¾ teaspoon a day.

Why is the powder purple?

Because it’s made from hibiscus flowers — the colour comes from the flower. Stirred into water it turns the drink a light pink; in coffee you won’t notice it.

Do I have to buy the other three?

No. The collagen is sold on its own at $34.99. The routine is there if you’d rather have the whole thing in one order.

The whole routine — or just the collagen.
